Blue Hour Along the Tiber
Looking across the River Tiber towards the Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II and the Vatican, as the dome of St. Peter's lights up the sky just after sunset. A fifteen-second exposure.
The Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II (aka Ponte Vittorio) connects Piazza Pasquale Paoli to the Lungotevere Vaticano in Rome. The bridge was built with the aim of connecting the historical center of Rome to the Vatican City and was designed by Ennio de Rossi in 1886. It consists of three arches and measures 110 meters across. It is decorated with winged statues of the Goddess Victoria on pillars, while the allegorical sculpture groups on the bridge itself are made of travertine marble, and symbolize “The Unification of Italy”, “Freedom”, “Oppression Conquered” and “Loyalty to the State”.
